Will the integration work the other way around? I have Visual Studio Team
2008 Database installed. If I install VST 2008 Developer, will it merge with
VST DB?

Paul's answer is right. After you install database edition of the same
version of Visual Studio, it will automatically merge with any other
editions of Visual Studio. This is because database edition is developed in
integrated mode.

With same UI, you can worked on same solution on both editions.
In addition, if you are installing VS 2008 database edition GDR, you must
apply VS 2008 SP1 first. Otherwise, the installation will fail.
