visual designer for subclassed button

i have subclassed a button and wish to see the visual representation of it
while im editing. i changed the DesignerCategory line so that i can visually
modify its properties, but the visual part of the designer screen is just
white rectangle. what is the trick to being able to see the actual button as
you are editing it?
