IDE freezes > 10 seconds ONLY for certain user accounts, same box

I have a solution with two projects: on VB.Net, and one J#. I am using
Windows XP Professional.
When I am typing in a VB file (even just hitting return, or typing a
comment) the IDE freezes for a long time, sometimes up to 20 seconds, and the
CPU hovers around 100% during this time, with DEVENV.exe using all of the
CPU. This happens if I use my domain account to log into the box.
I tried logging in as the local Administrator account, and the IDE is
blazingly fast. I then tried a friend's domain account (again, same box,
same solution) and it is also blazingly fast. I can't figure out what
difference between these accounts could possibly cause this problem.
I used filemon to see if I could figure out what the DEVENV process is
doing, and it looks just like the capture from the other accounts, except it
shows long gaps between reading the vbc94.tmp file and then opening the
solution directory (which devenv seems to do over and over).
I have tried a workaround suggested in another thread that suggested 1)
completely rebuilding while logged in as a local admin and 2) setting the
MasterKeyLegacyNt4Domain registry key. This did not solve the problem.
I have turned off every single service I can turn off while still keeping
the machine running. No virus scanners, no nothing. Also, the files are all
on the local machine.
Please, can anyone help me figure this out?
