Re: Load Times VERY SLOW

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I apologize but I am a bit of a amateur

I am using RTM and comparing to the same machine with XP (separate
drive so can do a true compare by changing which fdrive I boot from).
Drives are similar but if anything the XP has more "stuff" on it

From the moment I press F5 to the moment the "program is ready to
run" on XP takes about 10 seconds on Win 7 takes about 60 sec. On the
bottom status bar many "Symbol" files are loading.

Other then that Win 7 performance with other programs is the same or
faster then XP

I am a bit of a novice so where would I find the "log file" for SP1
install. The machine "locked" about half way through the install of
SP1 (froze). Second attempt same thing. I thought the slow
compile/load times were because of not completing the install. BTW
install was from ISO. Had to completely remove VS 2008 as per MS
instructions (including deletion of registry entries) and then
reinstall it. I am currently running VS 2008 with NO SP installed.
Was wondering if anyone has experienced similar problems

TIA

P.S. Was unable to intall Service pack 1 Locked up half way through

Win 7 RTM or Beta/RC?
Build time for what and compared to what?
What did the install log say about your attempt to install SP1 for VS 2008?

To get meaningful help, you'll need to provide specifics.
