RE: Cant open Websites With VS2008

I'm having a similar problem. Vs2008 with sp1, installed on windows 7 x86.

When ever i try to 'open website' i get the login prompt, enter my info, and
after about a minute or so, vs crashes.

On another machine, also running win7 (but x64) i have no problems opening
the same website in vs2008.

Any ideas why its crashing on one machine and not on the other? i tried
starting VS from the command prompt using all 3 switches you suggested, it
did not help.

What's the operating system you are running?
If it is Vista or 2008, please open Visual Studio as administrator first.

Have you installed any packages or add-in recently?
Please use the following command to reset environment in VS command prompt:
devenv /resetskippkgs
devenv /setup (Requires administrator right)
devenv /safemode

If the commands don't work, please we need the following log and exception
message to determine what's going wrong:

1. Visual Studio log

a. Open Visual Studio by command line:
devenv /log
b. Reproduce the crash
c. Find log file at %appdata%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\9.0\ActivityLog.xml

2. Crash Exception

a. Open another instance of Visual Studio
b. In the new Visual Studio, open menu Debug -> Exceptions
c. Enable all exception to break when throwing
d. Tools -> Attach to another process and attache debugger on the original
devenv.exe process
e. Repro the crash and check if the debugger breaks at any exception. Check
exception message.
