name of executable file for the debug session

I'm sure this is an obvious question, but as a beginner, I can't find an answer in the documentation.
When I run a sample from the windows media foundation sdk, it puts up a dialog:
Please specify the name of the executable file to be used for the debug session.
I have to define a file.
What am I supposed to do? It sounds like I'm supposed to identify the file that this project is going to build. Should I just name it anything and put it in the directory where the sample is found?
I don't know what it means...
