Save a Collection of items in MySettings

As of yet, I have not been able to find an example of how to do this, so I'm
asking here. .

I know that in the MySettings section, you can create a new setting, and
then, for a filetype, you can choose a collection......

I need to know, if I have a collection of items, how to save these items in
the new setting, as a collection, transferring each item into a separate
line in the setting...

For instance, if I created a 'Favorites' setting - then, under that one
setting, have all my urls listed separately, in order to load and save them
whenever needed.

Can anyone direct me to a location where I can learn how to do this?
