I think MS are forgetting how much the OS community have supported and
grown .NET into the highly respected framework it is today.
The OS crowd took all the Java tools, from NAnt and CruiseControl to
PicoContainer, NCover, NUnit etc. and ported them to .NET. Now MS is
frankly just ripping them off.
The strangest thing is MS published the TDD with .NET book written by
the brains behind NUnit. I think they owe the OS community a hell of a
lot. Especially considering how the OS community forgave MS for their
OSS is a cancer/the new communism remarks and worked with them to build
up .NET.
To me this new product model looks like MS have retreated to the old
embrace, extend and extinguish business model.
