You could have even more trouble getting a response to your posting since
there are so many conditions involved that may be causing you troubles.

Let's keep it simple:

You say you can see your SQL server in IDE Server Explorer.
You can see individual tables within your chosen DB.
Have you tried using the Add New Item > Data Form Wizard to create a form
to view your data? You know, VS isn't supposed to be used like an SQL
Enterprise Manager. You need forms to view or manipulate data.

As far as your installation problems, who knows! Without knowing the
details of your hardware and network configuration and without seeing
exactly what you did in what order, it's going to be very difficult for
anyone to venture a guess at how to help you.
