So you added an external database to an empty diagram. Im a little unclear
on the next step - I think you added a WebServiceApplication to the diagram
(as opposed to adding a WebServiceEndpoint onto the ExternalDatabase).
Anyhow the red X typically indicates an error in the drawing (a bug in the
designer's use of GDI) - I havent seen this specific error on my version of
the designer. I wonder if you have IIS installed - and even then you'll
need to reinstall ASP.NET after you install IIS.

am learning to use whitehorse, but after I inserted a external database,
and wanted to insert a webservice, a msgbox with only a red X and a
"language" on it appeared, so the webservice could not be added, and a
webapplication had this error, too.
