VC 6.0 hangs the system during debugging mode

Hi

This problem has been wasting so much of my time and I really couldn't
figure out why. I even installed SP 6 and the problem still persists. What
happened was whenever I was debugging some piece of code, the whole system
(WinXP) would lock up and I have to press the shutdown button and the system
will ask me to end "MSDEV.EXE" process, after I give 'yes', the system goes
to the reboot cycle. One other way is just to left-click on the bottom of the
program and hit 'close' to kill this "MSDEV.EXE". Once this MSDEV.EXE is
killed, the system will be working fine.

It seems this "MSDEV.EXE" is the source of the problem, I have two other
machines and they all the have the issues. I don't think Antivirus causes the
problem, since one of the machines doesn't have the antivirus software. Can
anyone help?? thanks a lot.
