Thanks to all for the info.

I did all except for Windows Defender. Will look at that tomorrow.
What do you think of Ad-Aware ?

Uninstall Windows Live OneCare. Yes! Most definitely! It's not worth the money, and it's not affective.

To assist you in the software cleanup process after a software removal (such as removing OneCare), I encourage you to use CCleaner: http://www.ccleaner.com/ CCleaner will safely "flush" your PC and get rid of all the junk left over by a piece of software you've uninstalled.

Then download and run Windows Malicious Software removal Tool: http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.aspx

Third, install SpyBot S&D: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

For anti-virus software, either AVG or Avast is good.

I would like to make one other recommendation as an alternative line of defense (it won't hurt), and that would be Windows Defender: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/defender/default.mspx

I'm not a big fan of Windows Defender, however, it can detect spyware items not easily detected by others. Windows Defender is a second line of defense. Thus, you would want to use Windows Defender IN CONJUNCTION WITH another anti-virus and anti-spyware applications.

Hope this has been helpful,

Is Windows OneCare still in business ?
If not should I uninstall it and download something like AVG ?
