Hi,
Can you load the command line (non-gui) mode? If so, run rstrui.exe from the prompt to initiate System Restore. Usually LKG is the solution as it loads the last backup that logged on successfully, but you've already stated this has failed. System Restore will allow you to load an older point.
Otherwise, you have a damaged registry and are likely looking at a clean install (you can only do a repair install from within a loaded system). Should this be your course of action, simply do not format to avoid loss of data. The existing installation will be moved to a windows.old folder on the root of the drive where you can recover data later. Programs will need to be reinstalled from their original installation media.

when trying to start my laptop, benq joybook s41, i get this error
message, on the BSOD:

The Registry cannot load the hive (file):

or its log or alternative.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.

i cant start it up in normal mode, safe mode, and even the last known
configuration, all take me to the error message. can some one plz help
me?
this is in vista 32-bit system.
