Issues with Shadow Copy

Since getting a new Dell Inspiron 531 with Vista Ultimate, there have
been issues with the amount of time it takes to re-boot (after a
software upgrade). It can take 45 minutes or more.
I have been researching the possible sources of the problem and I have
focused on the shadow copy functionality. In trying to understand what
was happening I have tried to use the command prompt command
vssadmin list shadowstorage
Th only result is the: Volume Shadow Copy Service administrative tool
command-line tool C Copyright 2001-2005 Microsoft Corp.
But, no results as shown in various help forums.
Also, if I go to the System Properties box and the System Protection
tab, the box that is suppose to be showing available disks is empty
with a message "Searching..."
I am at a loss to know where I shold be looking for a way to resolve
this problem.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Doyle
