Re: webcam speaker disabled

Note that the last before this current 6.0.1.5605 Realtek driver had a fault that turned down the microphone to zero and even when opened it still slid down to zero when you went to use it (I think it was version 6.0.1.5591). Anyway the .5605 is behaving correctly as far headphone/speaker operation

If it is a Realtek HD audio adapter, you should have a Realtek HD Audio Manager applet in Control Panel and a red speaker icon in the Notification Area of the Taskbar. Check with your computer or motherboard manufacturer for updated Realtek HD drivers. Or you can download them from Realtek (note the warning):

I looked in programs and everything on the control that related to audio and
couldn't find anything related to sound card. I'm using a realtek
mike/headphone as my plug in speaker.

You're welcome. Glad you finally got it worked out.

As to the headphone situation -- look in control panel or in your All Programs
list for an audio adapter (sound card) program that might have that option
available.

What IS your audio adapter (onboard - Realtek, Sigma Tel, etc.; or add-in
card - Creative, etc.)?

That worked!, thanks for your help and patience. Seems odd though that when
I attach headphones, it automatically shuts off the speakers, but when I
attach a microphone, the webcam mike still is functional. Oh well, I guess I
can work around it.

Don't right click on the Recording TAB -- right click in an EMPTY AREA of the
Recording WINDOW (the space where all the icons for recording devices are
displayed).

Yes, I right clicked on the recording tab and got no response. I'll try
the
link you gave, but I did a search for windows web cam, and downloaded the
driver, and got the response that "this driver is already installed". Hmmm

Also, I gave you the wrong link. Go here for the latest Microsoft webcam

When I go to the control panel>Hardware and Sound>Mamage Audio
Devices>Recording Tab...the icons for my other microphone (which is not
currently plugged in) and Line In? appear, but not the icon for the
webcam.
If I right click on the speaker icon in the task bar>recording devices I
get
the same window, again without the webcam icon.

OR, even easier: right click on the speaker icon in the Notification
Area
of
the Taskbar and select "Recording Devices".

This sounds good. Pardon the pun. Where do I find the
"Sound>Recording
Tab
window"?

The solution could be as simple as right clicking in the Sound >

window and checking both "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show

In order to use another microphone, I disabled the webcam
microphone.
Now
the icon for the webcam mike does not appear, in the recording
devices.
How
do I reenable the webcam microphone?
