Mapping works only if the Network Shares work well.
Yours do not work well, so it will not map the computers that are not seen by others.
You did not mention how the computers suppose the get their IP.
However if you have the typical Router with DHCP On, and each computer pulls the same own IP, but it is unique IP for each computer, it is actually a good preferred configuration.
In general, make sure that the Software Firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall On, Vista/XP Native Firewall should be Off, and the active Firewall has to adjusted to your Network IP numbers on what is some time called the Trusted Zone (consult your 3rd Party Firewall instructions.

I am setting up a small network containing three computers all running
vista. I will refer to them as Comp 1, Comp 2, Comp 3.

Comp 2 and 3 are identical hardware and settings, Comp 1 is a laptop.

Everything is hardwired.

All network/sharing settings are the same. Networks, workgroups,all set
to private networks. All computers have folders set for sharing and are
set for everyone to have co-owner access.

Comp 2 and 3 can map to and access Comp 1 without any issues. Comp 1
can not see the other two. Comp 2 and 3 can not see each other. When i
do the "Network Map" on all three computers i see this:
Comp 1 ------Switch-----Gateway
Comp 2
Comp 3

All comps are set to DHCP, but are all pulling the same IPs
continuously. Comp 2 and 3 can ping Comp 1, but not the other ways.

All computers have internet access and no issues with that.

Does anyone have any ideas to fix this situation?
