Recovering from sleep: limited wireless connectivity

Hi Folks, I'm a newbie here, so bear with me and and point me to the
right forum if this isn't the appropriate one. Been having problems
with my Vista Laptop recovering from sleep mode. It insists on
connecting to my neighbor's unsecured wireless network. (Its only
sitting a few feet from my Linksys WRT54GL wireless router.) I open
the Network/sharing center, manage wireless networks, and DELETE the
neighbor's connection. It pops right back in. DELETE it again, pops back
into view. Maybe another try, it will disappear. Go to Properties (on
the neighbors), and DE-check all the boxes. They'll stay dechecked for a
few seconds, and then recheck themselves. OK, after neighbor's has
disappeared finally (Go thru this song and dance EVERY TIME I RECOVER
THE COMPUTER FROM SLEEP MODE), I select my SSID to use (WPA2 secured),
and I get limited local connection (no internet). And I ask Windows to
diagnose and repair the problem (tick tock and message: this is taking
longer than usual.... etc). After several screens if I'm lucky I can
select Reset wireless router; and that USUALLY, but not always gets me
internet connectivity. And I reboot the computer, reboot the browser,
and do these things while tapping my foot four times, and for god's
sake, what is wrong with this software?!! And usually after about
fifteen minutes of this screwing around it does connect, and stays
connected. Until I put it into sleep mode again. I was hurling virtual
stones at the cisco/Linksys firm, then finally noticed: my PS3 can
connect to the internet no problem ditto my PDA So the WRT54GL
seems to be doing its work fine. Anyone having similar observations?
PS---all winvista updates installed. Thx, Mike
