Does it give you any error when it crashes?
What changed before this started happening?

I am also having quite the tremendous problem with Movie Maker. I've
been searching for a solution for the last hour, at the very least. I
took some videos with my digital camera and uploaded them to my
computer. When I tried to open them with Movie Maker, it shut down
completely. I tried reformatting the video, assuming that it may have
just been the format the computer saved it as that wasn't working well
with MM. So reformatted it, and opened up Movie Maker expecting it to,
ya know, work, or something to that effect. ...it shut down again.
I started searching online about the problem Windows suggested it was;
first was an update to some program, which I promptly did, but no luck.
And then it said the DEP (Data Execution Program) was the reason behind
it and so I found out how to shut THAT down. After doing that, it worked
for like, a literal minute, the video started playing, and then decided
against it and shut down. I tried to figure out how to uninstall and
then reinstall MM, but apparently you're not to uninstall Movie Maker
if Vista has anything to say about it. I'm at a loss.
What do I do?!?!? D=>

adding clips and effects, etc., and then suddenly I cannot get it to
preview.
I have tried everything and have combed through the Help topics in
Movie
Maker. Once it worked after I saved the project to my computer as an
.wmv,
but I can't keep saving without being able to preview and edit. Any
help out
there?
