Adding A Printer

My pc is a HP running Vista 64. My printer is a HP Laserjet 4ML. It
seems that no matter what instuctions I get, it always send up getting
messages such as Restart your Spooler, etc.

Can anyone help me. After two days of fighting with this problem, I am
wondering if I should just let the new PC collect dust or perhaps return
to my old faithful computer. I have been to the HP site, it didn't work
either.
