Your AVG antivirus was probably installed with its default install option.
If so, uninstall it, then reinstall, but select 'custom' install, which then
allows you to unselect installing its troublesome email scanning module.

While AVG is uninstalled, try Windows Mail again, just to verify that
the culprit has been found.

it is AVG

i have been using this for the past 3 years, never had a problem. The only
thing happened last week was, my web site suspended because my credit card
didint go through, i changed on file for new one but they were still using
the old number, anyways, i called them to change the credit card on file, my
web site was on but my email wasnt working still

i disabled the antivirus too

When it disconnects, look in the lower right corner (status bar); is there
a status message ("No new messages") or a yellow triangle with an
exclamation mark? If the latter, double-click on it.

We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

Also, make sure your antivirus is not configured to scan emails.

Using windows mail I can send email but cannot receive email any
more.Everything was ok like a week ago. But now i cant. When
sending and receiving begins to download emails but then disconnects. I
change the password but didint work, checked all account properties,
everything looks ok, but i still cant receive. Anybody can help?
