Re: Windows Mail suddenly not downloading messages.

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Can you do a trial uninstall of ESET? Sometimes just disabling the
antivirus is not sufficient to remove all bad effects.

Another option is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail:

Aloha,

About 4 or 5 days ago Windows mail started behaving strangely. I have had it
checking several mail accounts for some time, but now it refuses to download
new messages.

It logs into each server without problem, successfully retrieves the list of
messages to be downloaded and then just fails with an "Unknown Error".
Setting the system to keep a log of commands gives no clue as to what is
going on. As far as I can tell, the dialog between my Mail client and the
respective servers occur just as they should.

Additionally, if I use another mail program to retrieve the available
messages, Windows Mail processes without error . . . until a new message
becomes available. Then it follows the same pattern as described above.

I also have no problem sending mails from ay of the accounts. Also note that
the behavior occurs with each and every account even though they are on
completely different servers and systems.

I am running Vista Ultimate 32 with SP-2, 4 Gb RAM and all current patches
applied. I use eSet for my Anti-Virus/Malware and have tried disabling it to
see if it was the culprit. No luck.

Does anyone have any ideas or what possible direction I can go to resolve
this issue?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Aloha,
