1. Install Word Viewer: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=3657CE88-7CFA-457A-9AEC-F4F827F20CAC
2. Go to http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/maincatalog.aspx | Scan for & install any updates offered | After the installation(s) complete, click on the CHECK FOR OTHER UPDATES button & install them, too.
3. Right-click on a DOC file that you've already saved to your HDD (e.g., in My Documents folder) | select OPEN WITH | Select WORD VIEWER & check the "Always open with..." option.

I`ve just uninstalled the trial "microsoft home office and student" from my
computer because the trial had run out and I didn`t want the program because
its very expensive, on my old computer I always found "works" did me fine,
but I can`t open the documents that are attached to my e-mails connected
with my job, before I uninstalled "word" they were opening okay in that
program but because the trial had run out I couldn`t save them, print them
or copy and paste them, I was hoping the attchments would open in works
like they did on my old computer, but I get a message that says "create an
association in the set association control panel" what is that!? I`m
affraid I`m not computer savy, please help, I need to read the attached
documents to start my work on Monday :(
Thank you
