Re: Can't send email on Windows Mail

I am using AVG 8.0 antivirus. I did turn off the email scanning. I was
able to send emails to another verizon address, a Juno address and my
gmail address. However, when I tried to reply to a Craig's list box,
and another to update my address to a subscription service, I got the
error message. Don't know if this narrows it down. In addition to AVG
antivirus, I have Webroot Spy Sweeper.

My preference is to get my verizon mail running through Windows Mail,
so any help you give will be welcome and deeply appreciated. Thanks
again, xtine

Windows Live Mail is an option, but Google supposedly has a fix
to set Gmail webmail as the default in Vista, see
'Making Gmail your default mail application - Gmail Help'
but frankly I don't think it works in Vista. I haven't tried it
because I have no desire to have any webmail as my default mail
service.

If you prefer to get your Verizon mail going through Windows Mail,
we can help with that. Amazing that the Verizon techs couldn't help
you. Did you tell them to turn in their badges? :-)
"Unexpected" termination is usually caused by interference from an
antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
'Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email - A Cloudeight
Information Avenune Tutorial'

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:

In February, when I switched from Earthlink to Verizon FIOS, I
attempted
to set up the account in Windows Mail (which worked fine with
Earthlink). I receive all emails, however whenever I try to send I
receive following msg:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible
causes
for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period
of
inactivity. Subject 'Emailing: mobile home usa - Google Search',
Account: 'incoming.verizon.net', Server: 'outgoing.verizon.net',
Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

I have been on the phone 4 times with Verizon techs two of whom
remotely accessed and re-setup the account. We would get 1 or 2
emails
out then back to the error. Verizon sent a tech to the house and the
same thing happened.

While I have set up a gmail account to send mail, when I respond to
an
employment ad, it tries to go through Windows Mail and errors out
(not
good for the job search!) I have tried to delete Windows Mail as
default, but no luck.

I'm pulling my hair out! Is there a fix for this? Is Windows Live
Mail an option or will it default back to Windows Mail?

Thanks,
xtine
