Re: Sort order not saving

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

No other security programs. Tried it with Avast uninstalled and did the same
thing. Avast custom install does not have any choices as to registry. Also I
had avast before I changed my hard drive without this problem. This has got
me stumped. Maybe something to do with recovering my emails from my external
hard drive do you think? It was not an auto recovery as i did it manually .

Any other third party security programs besides Avast?

Try this:
Your Avast antivirus was probably installed with its default install option.
If so, uninstall it, then reinstall, but select 'custom' install, which then
allows you to unselect installing its troublesome email scanning module.

While AVG is uninstalled, try Windows Mail again, just to verify that
the culprit has been found.

I am not using any of the listed programs. I am running Vista Ultimate and i
have Avast home edition. Will check the settings if I can.

In order for a setting change to be saved, it needs to be written to
the registry. Some security programs prevent writes to the registry.
A partial list of programs known to do this are:

Ad-Aware Ad-Watch
IBM Access Connections
Kaspersky
McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware
Norton AV
Spyware Blaster
Spybot> Tools> IE Tweaks
Spybot- Teatimer
Spy Sweeper
Spyware Doctor
Zone Alarm (free) 6.5, reported to be fixed in later versions.

Yes everytime I restart mail it has changed back again.

Did you click on the Sent column so that messages are ordered by
date/time? There should be a little black triangle in the column header
that has been selected for sort order. When you restart Windows Mail,
has the pointing direction of that triangle changed?

I want my new messages to come in at the bottom but everytime I open my email
box it is back at the top again. It is most annoying. This just started
happening since I replaced my hard drive. Is there some setting I am missing?
Thanks for any help you can give.
