I have a desktop installed with XP + SP3 and use Windows Office 2000.
E-mails are sent and recieved using Outlet Express.
I have now have a laptop as well installed with Vista + SP1 and currently
just using the standard installed Works package.
Works isn't really a factor with this.
E-mails are now being handled via the Vista installed Windows Mail.
When I first connected up to the e-mail service on the laptop it has
downloaded ALL of the mails that were currently in the inbox under my e-mail
address.
That would be because the incoming mail was still on the server, and OE was set to not delete it when read.
However, none of the previously sent e-mails have been downloaded onto my
laptop.
That would be normal, because when you send mail using OE through a server, it usually doesn't keep a copy of the outgoing mail. It's ignored, as you will see if you go to the web mail interface and look at the Sent Items folder. There, ony items that you send *from the web interface* will be stored.
How can I recover and install in Windows mail the previously sent e-mails
Get the OE mail folder over to the Vista system, and import them into WM. Use File, Import, Messages, Outlook Express, Store Folder. Import to the Sent Items folder.
sent on outlet express and what can I do so that I can sent and receive the
same e-mails on either my laptop or desktop?
Synchronising sent mail will be a problem this way. You might consider switching to IMAP from POP if this is really a need for you.
Incoming mail is not a problem, just set both clients to leave mail on the server for X days.
