Now my Windows Live Mail won't transmit a picture attachment
in .jpg or .gif format. If I delete the pic and reattach it, sometimes
it will transmit, sometimes not. Some picture attachments in
previously received emails are now deactivated and I can't open them.
An error message appears atop the outgoing or received email:
Prohibited file type. This message contains an attachment whose
file type is considered dangerous. The file has been deactivated.
What am I missing here? Rodan.

Chances are, that warning is coming from your antivirus. Which
antivirus are you running? Some are not fully compatible with
Windows Mail. As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must
be disabled. Make sure the image you are attaching is not open
in another program. Make sure attachments are enabled:
Tools, Safety Options, Security, uncheck "Block images..." and
also uncheck "Do not allow attachments..." Also go to Tools,
Options, Send, Mail Sending Format, HTML Settings, make sure
"Send pictures with messages" is checked.

My antivirus is ESET NOD32 which came with my computer. I don't
understand why jpg and gif images which previously transmitted fine
began being blocked as dangerous. I unchecked "Block images..."
per your suggestion and jpg and gif attachments now are transmitting.
Thanks for thecomments. Rodan.
