No, "leave a copy on the server" is not checked on either system.

I have Windows Vista on both my desktop and laptop and I'm using windows mail
on both. My ISP is with comcast. I'm getting incoming mail on the desktop,

Do you have either computer set to "leave a copy on the server"?
Do you typically check your mail first on the desktop?

Answer these two questions and then we can most likely guess why.


If two computers want to see the same mail, one of them has to leave a copy on the server.
Think of it as a post office box. The first one there gets all the mail and there is nothing left for the second inquiry.
Set the laptop to leave a copy of the messages on the server (to be deleted in X days).
Then when you use the laptop "first" to check the messages, there will be a copy for the desktop to download.

Note: when you access a POP server, you download the messages to your computer and the server deletes their copy if you don't instruct them to keep a copy. Of course if you do this, you will occasionally get multiple copies of the same message if you don't access the mail with a computer not configured to leave the messages on the server.
