Re: Can't Send Email

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

You had a send error before. This latest error pertains to receiving.
You still have not followed all the settings in that Yahoo link I gave you.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that mail account, Properties, Advanced.
Enable the SSL option for the incoming (POP3) server. Both servers
must use the SSL option.

I did it, and now I get this message. It looked like it was going to work.
Im able to log on the regular way by going to the web-site I can log in and
out with no dealy. Can I go anywhere on the Microsoft web site and get help?
Even if I have to pay for it, I need to get some work done.

You missed a step.
The setting "My server requires authentication" needs to be checked.

OK, I did what you said, in the tools tab, accounts, Advance tab I changed
the server port numbers and clicked use SSL, now I get two errors??

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

I have the exact same problem word for work. I have Cox for my ISP, Vista,
and use Yahoo for mail. I just upgraded to Plus Yahoo mail, so I can use
Windows mail with my Yahoo. It worked fine initially (this past Friday),
however since the initial setup I haven’t been able to send not one email. I
did what was suggested with my Anti-virus setting, no luck. I even rebooted
thinking that might help. Any suggestions?

I take it that TDS is your home ISP? Were you sending from home when
that error occurred?

Make sure email scanning in your antivirus is disabled.

Hey, I can't send any email but I can receive just fine. Here's what the
error is telling me:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Bro', Account:
'pop3.tds.net', Server: 'smtp.tds.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

If you could help I'd really appreciate it. I have tried disabling the email
protect options, and I have symantec security if that helps you any
