logged into my Windows Mail account as usual but for some reason a pop-up
appeared requesting my username and password.
Entered these successfully but didn't receive any emails and haven't for
the
last couple of days now after sending myself messages using another
web-based
account.

I can send messages fine via my Windows Mail, Tiscali account and can even
send myself messages which appear in the 'sent' folder OK.

When I click on 'send/receive' the usual box appears briefly indicating
'connecting to pop.tiscali.co.uk', 'autorising', 'checking for messeges on
pop.tiscali.co.uk' then 'disconnecting' - no errors indicated.

Outgoing mail is smtp.tiscali.co.uk.

I've checked that the outoing and incoming email addresses are still
identical which they are, but seeing as I never went into the properties
in
the first place to change anthing before this problem started I didn't
really
expect anything to need altering there anyway.

A call to Tiscali Help resulted in me doing all the checks I'd already
done,
with the advisor finally saying that they couldn't suggest anything
further.

You are the 2nd user to report the same problem in the past few days, see a
post by "elheedio" Tiscali with windows mail, 15 Sept 14.32 in this
newsgroup.

It looks like the problem is most likely at the tiscali POP server end?
