Re: Yahoo

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

You could try Windows Live Mail which runs on both XP and Vista:

Kills that idea. I have XP. Thanks for your help.

Which OS do you have, Windows XP or Vista?
Outlook Express will not install or run on Vista.
Windows Mail is Vista's replacement for Outlook Express.
Windows Mail cannot be downloaded or installed on an XP computer.

AT&T/Yahoo had me take Outlook Express off my machine, saying that was what
was causing my problems with Yahoo email. Of course that didn't help. Is
Outlook Express the same thing as Windows Mail? Do you think it would cure my
Yahoo email difficulties if I downloaded Windows Mail?

Oh, so you are talking about webmail that is accessed via a browser.
Sorry, that's not a Windows Mail issue, and I don't think we have any
browser experts in this newsgroup. If that Yahoo account is the type
that is partnered with AT&T, why don't you access it with Windows
Mail instead of the browser?

No error message when the problem occurs. The computer will be working fine,
but when I try to access Yahoo email, it slows to a crawl. When the page
finally comes up, the computer hangs on the inbox or on the message itself.
If I go away and come back 10 or 15 minutes later, the message will finally
be on screen. If I need to do something right away, I have to put down IE7
and use another browser. The Yahoo/AT&T browser has no trouble with Yahoo
email.

I've got the usual AT&T/Yahoo security supplemented by the free version of
SpywareDoctor. I had trouble with Yahoo and Windows email compatibility
before starting to use the Doctor. The Web email problem only kills Yahoo.
Gmail and GoMail continue to work fine. Maybe Yahoo and Windows need to get
together and work out the problem.

Non-compatible security programs tend to get confused by Windows Updates.
Doing a system restore will often only give you a temporary reprieve.

One of last week's (Sept. 9) Windows Updates fritzed my Yahoo email. I had to
do a System Restore to be able to access it again.

Phil, keep trying I check my mail everyday and today for some reason it
refused point blank giving me same error message as you and have tried
at least 3-4 times today and just tried again and its working fine which
seems to tell me it was a Yahoo problem. If not try making a new file
and see if that works sometimes find windows updates that update your
windows mail can cause the files to act odd so always have a copy of all
my files and the set up info saved in a folder named Email Set Up Info
