The error message you included pertains to sending only.

That type of error is often caused by interference from a non-
compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off.

I am new to Vista and Windows Mail. I am trying to set up Mail and keep getting an error msg. I can neither send nor recieve. This is the error msg: Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.
