Re: no new messages in 1 group only

Three suggestions:
First, Norton tends to leave quite a bit of troublesome debris behind
when uninstalled. Follow up with their debris removal tool:

Second, chances are you installed Avast using the default install option.
If so, uninstall it, then reinstall, but select custom install, which then allows you to unselect its troublesome email scanning module.

Third, a default newsgroup setting can cause strange behavior.
Go to Tools, Options, Read, uncheck "Get 300 headers at a time".

I can currently post to and then read my messages in two newsgroups. So I
know my newsreader and news server are working (I assume).

However for the last three days one newsgroup (a moderated one) doesn't show
any new messages on my newsgroup reader (windows mail). It was working fine
prior to 3 days ago. I know there are new messages to this newsgroup cause I
can go to Google and read them. I can even post a message to this news group
using windows mail, and then read it on Google. However, my newsreader
doesn't get any new messages for this group.

I installed Avast antivirus program about 1 or 2 days before the problem
started. And before doing that I uninstalled a Norton antivrus program.
However, I was able to post to the moderated group (and receive messages to
this goup) the following day. It was about the 2nd day after installation of
the Avast AV program that I noticed my moderated newsgroup was showing no
new messages on my windows mail newsreader.

Turning off the Avast AV program doesn't solve my problem.

Any ideas? Seems like I'm spending alot of time trying to resolve problems since I
bought this Dell laptop with the Vista OS.
