Re: Can't send emails HELP!!!

The smpt part of the server name is unlikely to be correct. Try
changing it to smtp instead.

The uninstall of Norton often leaves a lot of troublesome debris
behind,
which is why you are advised to follow up with their removal tool:

Secondly, if AVG is installed using the default install, its mail
checking
module can cause problems. Uninstall AVG, then reinstall, choosing
custom install, which then allows you to deselect installation of the
mail
scanning feature.

After you have done both of the above, delete that mail account, then
restart Windows Mail and recreate the account. If you still get an
error message, right-click on it, copy, then paste it into a reply
here.

Thanks for the advice but I'm still getting the same error messages
after carrying out the steps you suggested. Error message is pasted
below.
The host 'smpt.tools.sky.com' could not be found. Please verify that you
have entered the server name correctly.
Subject 'Ian's cycle ride', Account: 'pop.tools.sky.com', Server:
'smpt.tools.sky.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket
Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

Still haven't had a reply to my last E.Mail. Why am I having so much
trouble with Windows Mail. It seems odd that so much has to be done
to solve this problem. Looking at all the other problems that people
have had, there must be a fundamental fault with the programme that
Microsoft needs to sort out. As I said before I had no problems with
the trial version of Microsoft Outlook.

The second error happens when a given account is checked
repeatedly with too short an interval between checks. I recommend
that you set the mail check interval for 5 minutes or more.

The first error is more difficult to assess, partly because you did
not
include a sentence that normally precedes that error message.
It probably said something like the connection to the server was
lost or timed out. That can happen when using a non-compatible
antivirus program. Which one are you using? As a minimum, mail
scanning in the antivirus must be disabled.

I am having the same trouble. Can anyone help? I was online with
tech
support for AT & T for 2 hours and that led me to no where. The
error
message i am getting is as follows:

First Error Message
Account: 'mail.bellsouth.net (1)', Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net',
Protocol:
POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

Second Error Message

Account: 'mail.bellsouth.net (2)', Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net',
Protocol:
POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [IN-USE] account busy (locked by
another POP3
process)', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90,
Error
Number: 0x800CCC92

I'm having similar problems, same error messages as above except I'm
on sky (smpt.tools.sky.com) using port 465 for out going
mail (as recommended by sky). What I can't understand is why my
E-mail worked fine with the trial version of Outlook Express
but not on Windows Mail. I have completely uninstalled my Norton
anti-virus software and am using AVG. I have also tried some
of the fix programmes with no success. It's driving me round the
bennnnnnnnnd.
