Re: pop 3

When buying your new computer the sales shop could have transferred all of your old documents, settings and emails from your old machine to the new, it's a simple process if you know what to do. There are many programs available that will transfer documents, settings and emails over a USB link from the old PC to the new. Dell offer this as part of the online buying experience.

I know this makes me feel old but I do remember 6 years ago "2002" when my customers were complaining about the new innovative operating system called Windows XP and asking for the "good old Windows 98" back again.

I think you mean that you used to have several email accounts which could be
accessed in Outlook Express (OE) but which you cannot access in Windows
Mail. (An identity means something different in OE; see
http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm.)

Assuming I'm correct and the accounts you can no longer access are
MSN/Hotmail accounts, you now have 2 options to access them using a Mail
Client (e.g., Windows Mail):

1. If you subscribe to Windows Live Hotmail Plus [1] ($19.95/year per
account), you can access the MSN/Hotmail accounts via POP3 [2] in Windows
Mail or MS Outlook; or

2. Install Windows Live Mail [3] and use it as your default Mail Client
(i.e., replacing Windows Mail; yes, the names are confusing) in which you
can access your MSN/Hotmail and POP3 accounts.

having been forced to buy Vista with Windows mail

Computers are still being sold with WinXP preinstalled.

forced to have two accounts (myself+wife) and I can find no way of
downloading ALL messages from the mail server that are sent to our 'old'
identities. Therefoer, a dal of messages are building up on our mail
server
and I have to log on toour web mail account to see what is there.
Q: How do I set about downloading all non-account specific emails from the
web server. Note that they are NOT junk.
Not impressed by Vista I'm afraid to say
