Please note telling me to update the drivers is not a helpfull response;
I am asking if there is any way to fix this from vista's side as the newest
gcard drivers from sony is installed.
Or is this a bug in vista still after 2 years of it being on the market?

If the secondary monitor is not permanently connected then it would be SOP to have to switch the displays' relative positions in Display settings every time the monitor is connected. I've been using the 2)1) arrangement for years and it doesn't flip back to default unless I do a driver update/reinstall. Driver corruption has occasionally flipped the primary display over onto monitor number 2.
Rather than a bug in Vista, more likely the problem would be caused by a bug in the display driver or a driver installation issue as was hinted by the previous reply. As likely is that the order of priority is determined by the video hardware/BIOS. It also isn't uncommon for systems with dual video connections to be set up to use either one or the other monitor connection but not both at the same time. In that case the external monitor connection would naturally be set up to default to Primary status. The manufacturer could also assume that the most likely use of the external connection is to replace the built in display, so defaulting that connection to primary status when a monitor is detected makes some sense too.
