Thanks again for the response --- I've pretty much disable everything
(anti-virus, superfetch, indexing, etc.)

I'm now down to the following files processes that keep running:

$MFT
$LOGFILE
$NTUser.dat
SOFTWARE
SOFTWARE.LOG1
