Re: Autoruns crashed vista boot

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Thanks for the information than an all proved futile.

for one thing I had no system restore points yet I
had reason to believe that there were.

secondly, I tried all the options to repair but
they couldn't circumvent the stall after the
crcdisk.sys

the only thing left for me to do was to boot
with a bartspe and run the chkdsk's.

even then the above couldn't circumvent the
error, what ever it was.

eventually vista came back on line because
I attempted to do a new install.

not sure if the error was due to crcdisk.sys
or whatever system file came after it.

any ideas?

hello,

I installed autoruns and conveniently disabled
just a few nuiscance startups like google
toolbar updater, javaupdate, msdefender

but after a reboot I could not longer boot
into vista.

there was some error message indicating
autochk corrupted or something to the
affect

and when ever I started in safemode
the system would halt at crcdisk.

anyways since nothing was panning
out via the diagnostic menu or with
a visto boot cd,

I attempted simply to re-install vista.

but since it was only a boot disk setup
would not take my product key.

so here is the clincher, I forgot to press
any key to boot from cd and the system
proceeded to boot normally.

and now I'm in vista.

so can anyone explain why the system would
halt after the crcdisk or why autoruns and
autochk would halt the system from starting
vista?

thanks in advanced for any suggestions or
questions.
