Re: Windows update...driver install fails

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

The correct driver should be at the following URL

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3543988&lang=en

If HP's installer is any good, it "should" install the correct driver
without a major hassle.

Basically, you may end up using the device manager from administrator to
uninstall the current driver. Restarting (windos should use a standard VGA
driver)
And then install the driver listed above. Most current LCD displays are
detected by windows, and setup without a hassle. (PnP you know.)
When "drivers" are needed for the usual LCD display ist's usually because
the LCD cannot furnish the correct information to windows. This can be
because the Video card cannot pass the information, or that the information
stored in the display is not correct or complete.

Hi -
New here and there are a zillion entries to look through :)
I got notice from windows update that there was an update for my
monitor driver (HP w2207h). I chose to install it and it failed wih
"unknown error". I tried a few times and even uninstalled Norton 360
just in case. Nada.

When I go through the device manager to update the driver, it
eventually fails with the error message "access denied".

Every time I boot now, I get missing device driver error for the
monitor.

What can I do? Has anyone experienced the same?
