Any other advice on how to repair corrupt system files?

You probably haven't got any 'corrupt' system files. I've found the ' SFC /scannow ' command often returns wrong information.
Also you have run a repair which found no problems.
If you have antivirus software installed that may be crippling your Windows firewall.
