Vista Home premium, SP2. HP Pavilion Notebook. Have to run in
-SAFE
mode with networking- for next week till new hard drive arrives.

I will then install it as my computer will not boot in normal
mode.
HP
Warranty is replacing hard drive.

But as an aside, I can access my hard drive and copy files to my
external HDD.
(big WHEW!)

In the meantime, I wish to use the Internet to access audio via
HULU
or other sites.

How can I manually access my audio while in safe mode? Please
give
specific directions if this can be done, which I suspect it can be
done.

I reinstalled the audio driver and it indicates that driver is
installed and now I need to find a way to access the audio. Will
be
very happy if I can sort this out.

I don't believe it can be done. The whole point of Safe Mode is to
load
the
operating system with as few drivers and background processes as
possible.
Because your antivirus will not be running in Safe Mode, it isn't
safe
to
surf the Internet from there either.

Sorry.

Thank you for your quick reply.

I understand it may be impossible to enable audio in Safe Mode with
Networking, but is it possible?

I do not 'surf' the Internet but go to only trusted and tested mostly
password protected sites, check emails and the like.

Besides in a few days I will be removing and replacing my hard drive.

I merely wish to activate the audio to watch on line TV (I have no
television) or watch a dvd movie in my library. The DVD rom drive
still
works in safe mode, (as do many programs) but not my printer or
audio,
so why not access audio (and local printer) too?

If, a big IF, it is possible please supply specific directions for
audio and local printer. (apparently printer spooler is disabled and
I
can not figure how to enable this feature either)

I suspect it may be possible and have not determined the way to do
either or both, yet.

If it is not possible please add this accommodation to Windows 7.
Would
be a nice feature for those of us who are responsible and require
Internet to be connected during hardware malfunctions, as well as
having
at least limited local printing in Safe mode.

As I said in my first post, I don't believe it is possible to do what
you
want. Of course, I don't know everything (more's the pity) so perhaps
someone else will give you a way.

I have no ability to tell Microsoft what to put into Windows 7. You
could
look on the Win7 homepage and see if there is a place to make
suggestions
for the next version of Win7 (it is feature-complete at this point).

Thank you.

Right clicked on the Icon, as I have been doing all day.

Message that shows up indicates:
"Status is not available for this device when Windows is running in
Safe Mode."

Yet, the driver is installed and the speakers are showing as working,
but Windows has disabled sound accessibility. Any other suggestions?

Looking for other sites also that might help.

There must be a workaround?
