Can you access Symantec.com?
If you can't, goto Google and enter a test search.
if you get strange results, pointing mostly to ads/commercials, you're in big trouble.
You could be hijacked and you need antivirus tobe updated via FTP site on ANOTHER computer, then load it on yours and run it in SAFE mode, not in regular windows.
But if you can load Symantec, it maybe just Microsoft was down at the time which is highly suspicious.
Microsoft is like a public utility - their downtime is an exceedingly low probablity event.
It's like Verizon, ATT or US Military going offline. SO it's strange.
Go check if you can load Antivirus & security websites, if they're all blocked, you're infected.
