I've researched the matter and it's NOT because I need to learn Vista search. I am a pretty smart guy.
What we need is to FORGET it when it comes to serious search within file CONTENTS.
First off, waiting for a search to go thru tedious filename search, JUST because it"s impossible to INITIATE CONTENTS SEARCH BEFORE FILENAME is DONE is RETARDED & TIME CONSUMING.
You could start Contents search immediately in WinXP.
Second, I ceated 4 test files, Vista found one. XP found all 4. They contained an ASCII string within txt, log, ipt and doc files.
Don't worry about IPT files, it's a 3D MCAD files, you probably never heard of.
WinXP doesn't care, it just finds it. I don't mind waiting, listen if you get tired waiting get a better computer.
Don'tr try to circumvent quality search and call it "Vista" just because it finished quick, and found no sh....
And the solution is here:
MYTHICSOFT's "FILE LOCATOR PRO"
It costs a few dollars, they also let you download stripped down free version AgentRansack but its development stopped in 2003.
This company's clients include FBI, CIA, US Dept of Defense, many Scientific institutions.
It actually does search file's contents, unlike Vista's empty claims.
Dont tell I haven't enetered query strings properly, i told you don't know who I am. It's too long to explain, I've been doing it longer than you've been alive.
