The Win XP registry is crap garbage and the design and concept are
terrible. In essence that makes XP on the crap side also.
However when compared with Vista now that makes XP look good.

Search function is a joke. It fails 80% time when searching arbitrary
file CONTENTS for a string. Don't tell me my settings are wrong, you
don't know who I am.
Been doing computers for almost quarter of century, degreed engineer.
Dont worry abou tmy "settings" Worry about your algorithm that is
designed for speed, not quality.
I was forced to buy FindFilePro and download Agentransack - first time
in history I had to go thru trouble of BUYING a search tool which used
to be part of Operating System in WinXP, Win2000. I kno wVistae includes
search... but it finds music & pictures! LOL. This qualifies it for
kids and retired people I guess. Not for serious business. I am a
scientist/engineer, these gadgets to me are as worthy as fried rat's
tail.
I often seatrch binaries and hex files for certain strings, thsi Vista
search is a disaster.
