Vista Home Premium 64-bit O/S & "Performance" Issues

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I would appreciate hearing back from anyone who has had similar experiences
to the following and what the solution is: I got a new desktop with Vista
Home Premium 64-bit O/S installed on it with Office 2007. I was formerly
using on a laptop Office 2003 under Windows XP Pro. Now I am experiencing
the following issues that I don't know how to fix, or if they are really bugs
in the 64-bit O/S:

1. Outlook 2007 is not remembering on exit the layout/formatting changes
that I've made within it (e.g. removing email inbox 'show by groups' setting
and re-sizing of the columns so the 'from' column is wider than the original
default width - it keeps reverting back on re-opening to showing my emails in
groups by day, and to the shorter column widths, both of which I don't want).
I checked out a friends' Vista 32-bit O/S with Outlook and it is remembering
these changes on exit and re-opening. Seems to be a 64-bit O/S bug but it
could be a setting I need to check on or off. If the latter, what?

2. Outlook 2007, Word 2007 - in both of these programs, when I type an
apostrophe or a quotation mark, the first typing of the key does nothing.
The second typing comes up with a double response (i.e. two apostrophes, two
quote marks). I end up having to back out one, and continue typing. Rather
frustrating and annoying, as I use the quotes and apotrophes a lot. Is this
another 64-bit O/S bug? I have checked and re-checked my Language and
related settings in the control panel and can figure out anything else to do.
Any thoughts from anyone?

3. Outlook 2007 emails - in Outlook 2003 in Windows XP Pro, when I would
type :) it would automatically revert to a small smiley face. It doesn't do
that any more. When I am typing a note inside the memo area of a Contact
window, if I was typing an email address or website address, it would
automatically switch them to a hyperlink form. Now this isn't happening in
Outlook 2007 in Vista 64-bit O/S. Is this another bug of the system? Or is
there a fix or system setting that I don't seem to have turned on correctly.

ANY sort of help to my issues above with be GREATLY appreciated. Many thanks.
