Nix the above tutorial link.
If you are able to access a Admin User account, show all hidden files,
then go to the C: drive select *Users* Folder, copy and paste it onto an
external HDD/DVD's.
Now that you backed up the corrupted User Folder, log into the hidden
Admin Account, and delete the corrupted User Account. Recreate it with
the same Name as originally, and set the password. Log out of the True
admin account, and log into the newly created User (I assume this is a
Admin/User, and not a limited User account), make sure all is well, then
copy/paste the User contents for the User in question back into the
folders-do not copy/paste the entire Users Folder as this contains
corrupted data. i.e., copy/paste Documents (contents-not folder), music,
video, desktop, etc.
_Do_not_ copy the *Appsdata* folder/contents as this may contain
corruption. If you want to selectively copy the folder contents (such as
game saves), just be carefull as this folder may contain corrupted User
data.
note- if the corruption was caused by Reg cleaners/"optimizers", or
malware I suggest after backing up the Users folder that you restore a
disk image, or re-install Vista due to possible Windows Corruption.
