Re: Windows Update Error Code 80244019

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Tnx Mr. Foldes, I appreciate the solution you gave, but I guess most of
the people here including me , prefer hotdogs in a stick, rather than
plenty of hotdogs randomly placed in a cold bucket of ice.

to those who had experienced a TROJAN.DNSCHANGER that keeps coming back
everytime your PC connects to the internet. I bet you have a Router
installed with you.

the solution is of the following and I read it to some guy who posted
about a TROJAN.DNSCHANGER that affect Router with Username and password,
that has the usual "admin" and "admin" configuration (default or to
other router the default password is blank) the said TROJAN is kind of
wise, because it targets the Router and not the PC itself. so the Virus
will just keeps coming back everytime you connect to the Inet.

the solution I figured out is of the FF:

Solution 1

1.) if you are using a router, and you have a separate DSL modem to
connecto to the internet. try to disconnect the Modem to your router.

2.) now that your PC is connected to the internet USING ONLY YOUR DSL
MODEM and without using your ROUTER, Re-Run again Malwarebyte Quick
scan, and you can see that the 6 malwarebyte had been erased, THE REAL
TEST now is to restart your PC, connect to the internet without using
the ROUTER. and RE-RUN your malwarebyte again, if the TROJAN didn't
return. Your in good path proceed to 3rd phase.

3.) Run now the Windows Update, and hopefully you can see the bars
sliding into its rightful direction :)) if you still have problems when
you are in this part. Update your Internet Explorer to Version IE8, that
will give a fresh start to your internet explorer, coz Windows Updates
run Via the settings of your InternetExplorer.

4.) if you have time you can check the update report through your
windows update and clicking the LINK. you can see that Windows Update
installed a MALICIOUS SOFTWARE REMOVAL TOOL for MARCH 2009 -------> with
that tool, rest assured trojandns changer will now sweat in penetrating
your PC.

5.) Now that your PC is updated, it's time to Connect your DSL modem to
your ROUTER and reconfigure your ROuter, by Adding a new password.

TAKE NOTE: you can see the DNS configuration in your ROUTER should be
back to 0.0.0.0 instead of the 85.255.112.X (the Target DNS of the
TROJAN)

hopefully, your PC has a fresh new start without even reformatting it.
because the Infection is in your router and NOT in your PC.

Solution 2

if you don't have a DSL modem and your only means of connecting to the
internet to the PC is through your router, try the ff:

1.) go to your router config. usually 192.168.0.1. now that you're in
the setup, try to change the password, and see all the DNS config.

IF YOU SAW A DNS CONFIG STARTIN WITH 85.255.112.X , please make it
0.0.0.0 (I figured it out when I saw the LOGS MALWAREBYTE is cleaning, I
always saw that DNS ADDRESS being affected by the TROJAN, so I URGE you
to make that DNS 0.0.0.0, by doing so, your router will provide a new
DNS or stick to that 0.0.0.0 either way, it will ensure that everytime
you connect to the internet you will not be re directed to another
TROJAN.DNS infested site again)

2.) you can even reset your router and PC.

3.) NOW FOR THE FINAL TEST, connect to the internet and RE-RUN
MALWAREBYE TOOL and you should see that the malware are all remove,
RESTART again your PC and repeat the PROCESS. your GOAL is not to see
ever again that DNS CHANGER.

4.) that's it all done, you can now update your VISTA.

Thanks for all the people who help me in this ordeal, it took me almost
1 day to fix this. I guess I am still lucky coz some people took them
weeks even months to destroy that PEST TROJAN.DNSCHANGER

CIAO!
