..."There's this video on YouTube. It's all about the new "eye candy" in Windows and Ubuntu. In the first part of the video, the unseen demonstrator shows-off Windows Vista Aero, including some of the more talked-about UI effects (Flip3D, live Task Bar thumbnails, etc.). In the second part, they show Ubuntu with Compiz Fusion enabled. The demonstrator shows how the "Compiz-ified" Ubuntu windows warp and bend; how they can be stretched and deformed; how they can be configured to seemingly "burn-up" in a in a flash of virtual smoke and fire.
The whole demo takes place against the backdrop of a pulsing bit of techno beat ("Lyrical Gangsta?"), making for a decidedly surreal experience. It's Ubuntu with Compiz Fusion enabled - a.k.a. Linux on crack.
Of course, like most attempts by the Linux community to parrot Windows Vista, the aforementioned "eye candy showdown" misses the forest for the trees. Yes, Vista includes some new UI effects and animations. However, unlike Linux and the whole Compiz Fusion head trip, the effects in Vista serve a practical purpose: To clarify the basic functions of the user interface. Moreover, the effects themselves are the product of many months of research and usability studies about how users interact with GUIs in a production environment...."
Actually there are a number of effects in Compiz Fusion that are extremely useful, while Aero really is purely eye candy.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Aero is an extremely functional feature of Vista.
No, it's a lame imitation of Compiz.
When usingVista I use it just like XP,...
what a waste...
when using Linux (And Compiz does not justwork on Ubuntu by the way) the "Cube" provides a very quick way to switch tasks without losing track of where you are.
Then you've not really explored the capabilities of Aero.
Oh, do explain how you use Aero in Vista and how what you do can't be done in Ubuntu.
More proof that you've never ever used Vista and I wouldn't be caught dead using that toy POS useless os upyrbuttoo made just for losers like you.
We are waiting with bated breath.
Good...keep holding your breath!
And of course personal preference comes into this, so you may not agree, but the writer of the article you quote from is obviously little more than a shill and clearly has no experience with Linux except for watching Youtube videos.
And you clearly have no real experience with Aero.
You have yet to explain the benefits.
Vista is the very best OS available today. Aero is just one of the many useful functional features of Vista.
Of course how would you know, you don't have nor have you ever used Vista.
All you do is attack the messenger.
That would be you. Anyway I love watching you get your stupid ignorant arrogant lying spamming linux ass kicked all day and every day in here!...LOL!
You love being an idiot who only attacks blindly like a junk yard dog?
I'm not the idiot in here promoting, spamming and lying about a linux product on a daily basis.
That dumb, stupid, uneducated mother fucking idiot loser would be you.
You are a lying *** loser and everyone in here hates you and everyone in here kicks your ass on a daily basis.
That you don't get it is a real testament to your arrogance and stupidity.
Got it ***?
I never asked you to be my friend or like me. Stick to the issues or shut the *** up.
hehehe...got your panties all in a bunch you lying piece of useless linux ***!...LOL!
You are the one who needs to shut the *** up *** sucker!
Nothing you type and post to this group gets "my panties in a bunch",
yeah...sure...keep telling that to yourself cause you're the only one who believes
it.
sorry. The only thing I feel for you is pity and disgust.
No, you feel real fear for me...as well you should.
