Didn't know that. My hard drive was going, going,.......If it booted far
enough (several times it didn't), I got the message "Back up your folders
and files immediately; your hard drive is failing" - or words to that
effect. I decided not to invest in another hard drive since the computer
(an HP, by the way - I've had three of them) was 5 years old. Who knows
what goes next?

Why, oh why, did my other computer have to crash? I don't need this.
You never did mention this in your other post.
Define crash.
The term 'crash' is most often used for a s/w malfunction of some
type.....almost all of which can be resolved w/o having to buy a new
computer.
Many 'crashes' are a result of bad RAM, or faulty power supply, either of
which is *significantly* less expensive than buying a new system.
