All my friends use Windows Vista or Windows XP.
Personally, I like Vista! I know of nobody that
likes the open sores Linux heap of dung.

I tried that Open Sores Orafice and it was a throwback to 2001. What do you
expect for FREE. If you are broke and don't need to share documents with
anyone then OpenSores Orafice might just work for you but if you need to do
real work, then you need a real application like Microsoft Office.

If you want to run popular programs you need an Operating System that will
run popular programs. Vista or XP fits that bill. If you just want to play
around with your OS, look at the icons on the screen and say WOW, then
Ubuntu just might be for you.

Can anyone tell me the consequences if the disk defragmenter is
not used or not up to date?
With a modern, up-to-date file system, there is no need to
defragment. This IS the 21st century - mature operating systems
have not needed defragmentation for 15 years or more.
What planet do you live on ?
I live on planet Earth in the 21st century. And I run Linux -
without defragmenting anything.
Yea, you run Linux without defragmenting anything or doing anything
PRODUCTIVE with the most popular programs. You are stuck with the
OpenSores (Open Source for ray) FREE programs that are inferior to
the Microsoft products. Some people are just born to use Linux.

The rest of use a real world solution to get results.
Even if Open Source software were inferior to MS (which claim I do
dispute) the name of the game is sufficiency. Open Source software is
sufficient to do all of the work that well over 90% of the populace
needs.
Can you provide verifiable data to back up that assertion, or is it
simply based on anecdotal hearsay?
Based on real world experience.
Oh, so its your personal experience and usage demands huh?

Partially - so what do you think most folks need to use that is not
present in an Open Source application?
