Re: Activation on new hard drive

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi

thanks for your feedback, it is not exactly a bug, the system is activated
so MS thinks I do not have to worry but as soon as I run update it will
check and see different hardware to what installed when the acticvation took
ploace and will deny access and i wanted to stop thathappeneing.

Oh well I guess the Tech Support is the option I need to take

regards

Hi

I have Ultimate 32.

I have just installed a new C: hard drive and copied a clone of my
original
C: drive using Casper 5 (brilliant program)

Last time I did this my activation was deactivated after a couple of days
and I lost a lot of functions in Vista, it did not matter then because I
formatted and reinstalled Vista, this time I do not want to do that but I
would prefer to activate Vista on the new hard drive before it becomes an
issue.

How do I contact the activation centre (Australia) when I click on
"activate
Windows" in computer properties it says it is activated and does not give
me
any options.

So how do I get it activated before I lose the functionality?

thanks

Daniel

When I had to activate Windows XP, the activation screen gave me a phone
option, and when I told it where I was (USA) it gave me a number to call.

Apparently you don't have that option, thanks to what looks like a bug. I
wonder if the Microsoft web site will have that phone number somewhere...

I did a quick look on Microsoft.com, and what they say is
"The telephone number varies by location and is provided during the
activation process". That's not good for you.

Here's the site where I looked at some FAQs:
http://www.microsoft.com/australia/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/activationfaq.mspx

Or: http://tinyurl.com/aq5kgv

I guess you need to look for the tech support phone number in Oz.
